What is a trunk show?
Trunk shows are a great way to shop a dress designer's full collection. The term "trunk show" refers to a bridal shop hosting a more complete or full collection of gown samples from a specific bridesmaid dress designer — for a limited time, usually a weekend. This gives bridesmaids and brides-to-be an opportunity to peruse and try on a wider selection of dresses from their favorite designer.
How is a trunk show different from shopping at a bridal shop?
Each year, bridesmaid dress designers launch an assortment of new dresses into their collections. A bridal salon will then select a handful of those new styles to add to their in-store sample inventory, based on their personal preference. Bridesmaids-to-be can then check out and try on that subset of samples in their shop. In a trunk show, a designer will send a more comprehensive set of samples from their latest collection to a bridal salon, allowing bridesmaids a chance to try on a much larger range of styles at that shop.
Who Should Attend a Wedding Trunk Show?
Brides and bridesmaids should attend a trunk show if they've found that their top dress choices come from one designer. You and your crew will see a more complete collection of dresses from your top designer — in person — and have a chance to take them for a spin.
